| In November of 2002 we made our first trip to Nazareth Barbell. We walked in and helped ourselves to Mike Miller's monolift. It was what turned out to be an opportunity to get to know an awesome lifter and fantastic individual. I had seen Mike lift in meets. In fact I was fortunate enough to see him hit 700 in Pennsylvania not long before. To see this man it is easy to be intimidated merely by his presence, but after talking to him for only a short time, you realize he is not only a phenomenal bencher, but someone who has an incredible heart for the sport and who is always there to offer help, advice or just real cool conversation. He introduced a few of my training parters to the Karin bench shirt. He helped them out with some benching tecniques, gave them some pointers and put several pounds on their bench. Deb Ames wasn't there at the time. She was out in Ohio at the Nationals benching a 230 lb. world record in the IPA. I did however get to introduce myself to her at a meet in Queensbury not long after. Mike & Deb are certainly a "Dynamic Duo" and are sure to do well in the gym business as well as the powerlifting community. It was certainly a privilege to meet you. You have certainly been a highlight in my lifting experience and I know my friends feel the same way. I have included some links here to show you some pics of their gym and the hospitality that was shown to us. |
