My high school track coaches (Garnham and Wyatt) got me into lifting. I was a shot putter & discus thrower and I needed to get stronger. They had a powerlifting meet at our school and the entered me (I won). That was back in 1995. The lifting paid off and I got a Track & Field Scholarship to college. I did a couple of small powerlifting meets but needed to focus on Track. After college, I needed to compete again and I fell back in love with powerlifting. That was back in 2001. I have been back at it since.

My family and I are from Lansing, Michigan. We have a large family back home. My mom, dad, brother and I have lived in Buffalo, New York for 23 years now. They have always supported me and my brother is my biggest fan. They come to as many meets as they can. My entire family is very proud of me and my accomplishments. I love them all. My husband and I have been together for about 10 years and married for a little over 3 years. We live in Buffalo with our dog, Harley. Brian always has my best interests at heart and supports me. He is always encouraging me to train harder and be the best that I can be.
summary in my own words:
A strong woman works out every day to keep her body in shape... But, a woman of strength educated herself to keep mentally ready. A strong woman isn't afraid of anything... But, a woman of strength shows courage in the midst of her fear. A strong woman won't let anyone get the best of her... But, a woman of strength gives the best of her to everyone. A strong woman makes mistakes and avoids the same in the future... But, a woman of strength realizes life's mistakes can also be a blessing and capitalizes on them. A strong woman has faith that she is strong enough for the journey... But, a woman of strength has faith that it is in the journey that she will become strong. (an adapted poem - author unknown)

Special Thanks:
I'd like to thank God for giving me the strength. I have to thank my family (mom, dad and Rick) for all their love and support throughout the years. I'd like to specially thank my husband Brian Curry. You are my heart and success would be nothing without you. Thanks to my friends Cassandra, Maureen and Erin. Mike Wlosinkski & Paul Childress took me under their wing and helped me to get to the next level. It took some time but they were patient and reassuring. Julia Ladewski, thank you for helping me to step it up a notch and for being my dear friend in power. Thanks to Ginny Phillips and Inzer for making awesome equipment. Thanks to my current training partners (Kirk Dean, Steve Coppola, Derek, Mike, Jen and Shawn). Every day you help me get stronger, more technically sound, mentally ready and most of all, you believe in me. Kirk & Steve, you two especially have been vital keys to my success and I am forever indebted to you.
