| sum it all up for us: |
| I started at Nazareth Barbell to get in shape and lose weight. I lost weight, got in shape, met a bunch of great people and after a year of asking, Deb finally got me to commit to one power lifting meet. Whether she thought I'd be good or just wanted another female on the team is yet to be revealed, but either way, I'm thankful to her for getting me started in something I have come to love in such a small amount of time. I was never a "workout nut". I was a cheerleader and gymnast in school, and practiced a lot. That was enough, I was not going to go to the weight room. I've dabbled in aerobics with my sisters over the years, but that gets boring. I never thought women could be strong. I just wanted to look better. I do enjoy some kickboxing exercise tapes now and then, and pilates is great for the abs (if you keep up with it), but I have found that the comaraderie at the gym has been my best inspiration to get there and get something done. I've been introduced to some other new sports over the past few years. White water rafting and hand gliding are two of my favorites that I'd like to keep up with when I get the chance. I'm a skier and I work at a ski lodge in the winter as my "fun" part time job. Since I work at a desk in an office all day, I love to get out and do outdoor things. I'll try almost anything once. I only have one meet under my belt and look forward to many more. I'm hooked. I've never met such a nutty bunch of good people with such great hearts in my life. Thank you for all of your support and encouragement. |
